Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

On 3rd April 2022, we are running the London Landmarks Half Marathon to raise money for Sepsis Trust UK in memory of our Grandfather who sadly passed away from Sepsis disease. We feel honoured to be able to run on behalf of such a special charity and would like to thank Sepsis UK Trust for giving us this opportunity.

Every 3 seconds, someone in the world dies of sepsis. In the UK alone, 245,000 people are affected by sepsis with at least 48,000 people losing their lives in sepsis-related illness’ every year. This is more than breast, bowel and prostate cancer combined. Globally, sepsis claims 11 million lives a year. Yet, for many patients, with early diagnosis it is easily treatable.

The UK Sepsis Trust (UKST) exists to fight this life-threatening condition, stop preventable deaths and support those affected by sepsis.

We are looking to raise awareness and raise money for a fantastic cause. Any contributions, big or small would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you.

Sepsis accounts for 48,000 deaths annually in the UK, that’s more than breast, bowel and prostate cancer put together. Sepsis is what happens when our immune system overreacts to an infection. Symptoms initially present as flu like but can rapidly deteriorate into a life threatening condition.
