In brief: I volunteered at Pioneer Prep. School in Kalimpong (West Bengal) through the Mondo Foundation some years ago and have since continued lending my support to the schools and teachers in the area.

Last summer family and friends donated generously to this charity, raising just over £2,300-- a whopping sum which has paid for the groundworks of a new and safer school in Kalimpong and for a training course which was attended by over 100 teachers & headmasters from the Darjeeling area. Jaw-dropping anyone?! To raise all that money I sweated it out in a Half Ironman race yet vowed to put myself through another endurance race this year to get some more banknotes in so that the school construction in Kalimpong can progress.

So here it comes: Tobias, my better half, and I will be partaking in Öloppet on August 3rd. The race covers a 20 km distance between islands... yep, we'll be running over and swimming between the different islands that make up the racetrack. We've got the (soaking wet) training gear on, the attitude and certainly the motivation to carry this through (though our respective mums prefer to call it sheer madness!).

What we need is your donation (in whatever size it may come) to get us through this insane race and to help make a huge difference to the children in remote Darjeeling.
