I am "Getting Messy for Maggie's" and taking part in The Gauntlet Games: I am told this is a hilarious obstacle course race over a 5k course taking on a series of inflatable, water and climbing obstacles, with real Gladiators!! In reality it'll be 5000 metres of me attempting to run (after very little training), encountering obstacles purposely put in my way to challenge and test my lack of fitness even further..."treacherous tunnels", a "Flume of Doom", the "Swing and Smash" and my personal nemesis...Monkey Bars (I couldn't do these when I was 6yrs old...I have no hope of escaping the murky water below)!!

So why put myself through it...? Well, like many, many others our family have recently been impacted by Cancer. Our loved ones found huge support locally from a Maggie's Centre, they experienced first hand the emotional, social and practical support provided by a wonderful staff in a beautiful purpose built centre away from the hustle and bustle of the clinic. But this personal, caring environment and support comes with a considerable running cost at £590,000 a year. Maggie's Centres fundraisers work tirelessly to raise these funds to ensure that support is there for those who need it and I want to do something however small (and fun!!) to support their work.
