Story

Faculty-Director Ming H. Chen founded RICE in Fall 2022 on a seed grant from UC Law SF's Centers of Excellence. In it's first year, it hosted 10 speakers, offered a colloquium class, sponsored community events on birthright citizenship, naturalized citizenship, and belonging. There’s a full-day symposium "We the People: Race, Citizenship, and Equality" with a keynote lecture on the Road to Reparations and a special issue in the UC Law Journal coming up in February 2023. Many more plans for the future, if funding continues beyond the initial seed grant!
