Story

At the Center for Gender & Refugee Studies (CGRS), we defend the human rights of courageous refugees seeking asylum in the United States. With strategic focus and unparalleled legal expertise, CGRS champions the most challenging cases, fights for due process, and promotes policies that deliver safety and justice for refugees.

Your support goes to work every day, protecting the rights of those seeking safety in the United States. Your donation sustains our work defending the rights of refugees through strategic support in individual asylum cases, combined with high-impact litigation and advocacy. Our success is measured by the lives we touch, the advocates we empower, and the visionary change we drive.

We make an impact on lives of immigrants and asylum seekers in California and nationwide through our three program areas:

  • Empowering advocates through technical assistance and training to win life-saving protections for their clients.
  • Undertaking strategic litigation to advance sound asylum laws and restore pathways to protection.
  • Advocating for just policies and the fair treatment of asylum seekers, including those forcibly displaced due to climate change.

Thank you for your generous support!
