Story
6K is the average distance that children often girls walk every single day to fetch water for their community. This water may still be dirty, but they have no choice. The Ullswater challenge walk is 21 miles and others in our team of 15 will do this! I am battling with sciatica, but I'm going to do what I can manage and aiming to complete at least 6 miles. The money raised will fund World Vision's water and sanitation projects across the world.
On a personal note, I am a World Vision staff employee. I have the privilege of reporting the impact of our work (as my job!) and I am just as proud of the work we do round the world in humanitarian emergencies and places of chronic child well-being need, as I was when I joined in 2004.
Last year World Vision UK funded work reached over 2 million children across 34 countries, benefitting more than 4 million people in total. We responded to humanitarian emergencies in 18 countries, reaching over 1.7 million people – over half of them children.
