Wessex Medical Research is the fundraising name of Wessex Medical Trust: Registered Charity No 274839.  It is the leading funder of general medical research in the region: that is, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, Dorset, South Wiltshire and the . Over a period of more than 30 years it has raised in excess of £18 million in voluntary donations to support critical medical research projects. Current priorities include research into breast cancer, prostate cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, osteoporosis, meningitis and leukaemia. 

This is a great cause, raising much-needed money for medical research.  Plus, this will be my first attempt to run a marathon, which is quite a daunting challenge!  Every penny raised will not only help a brilliant charity, but will also give me an incentive to get round in a reasonable time (keeping everything crossed that I'll be done in around 4 hours).  Thank you very much in advance, and please spare a thought for me and my poor feet on 25th April!
