WE DID IT ..YAY ! Thank-you so much to all of you lovely and generous people who sponsored us and made a ( horrific) challenge worthwhile.
The 5am start was enough of a task...the night before i woke up at 1am for the loo , at 2.30am in a sweat after dreaming that I had Triathalon garment stuck on my head , at 4am in a panic thinking it was 8am and that we had missed the whole thing ....you get the picture. Whilst driving us and the bikes to the start of the race I vowed that I was NEVER EVER going to do anything as MAD as this EVER AGAIN....then I realised I had been talking to myself as Celeste was plugged in to her Ipod . After major panicking from me ...." where is the godam registration ? where did I put the bike gloves ? and ( for the fifth time) , where the hell are the safety pins for our numbers ?? I think Celeste was quite relieved to finally jump in the water at 6.50am.Things went swimmingly and we completed the swim in a decent 10minutes and something seconds ( world record 4mins.) The cycling was uneventful (i.e. all wheels stayed attached to the bikes and free of punctures), but the ground was wet and slippery so we were pretty cautious. I was most proud of Celeste for this part of the race because as many of you know she still has problems with her arm after falling off her bike when she was 12. Then the running , hmmm am saving a story for someone's 21st ! Celeste sprinted over the finish line ahead of me ( no Christmas bonus for her then ) , and I swelled with pride as I saw people cheering her through. After the awards ceremony we myself and fellow Triatheletes ( sounds impressive, huh?) were shown a film depicting some of the children and orphanges who will be benefitting from the monies raised. Celeste raised her eyes to the ceiling in exaspertion as she turned to see her mother blubbing away , but I am sure those eyes of hers were glistening and I think I could detect some hard swallowing for it truly was a heart wrenching film. So... thank-you all , and thank-you God for holding off on the rain! Also, thanks to the back up team ...James for not interfering with our bikes and for making us scrambled egg, Sean , our neighbour, for checking our bikes ..Beattie for always being there, speaking words of wisdom and letting it Bea , and of course Hamish who stood patiently in the drizzle and then dashed off to win Best Newcomer at his Tag Rugby match in Tring. All relatives of Celeste should be very proud ,what a trooper x

5.4 million children across the world are currently trapped in orphanages – even though 80% of them have family they could live with if they had the right support. Orphanages harm children, depriving them of love and exposing them to abuse. Your support helps us get children to back to family.
