Story
We are nurses who work at the Centre for Clinical Haematology at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.
We have seen first-hand the devastating effects of leukaemia for our patients and their families. We will be running the Birmingham half marathon on Sunday October 13th for Cure Leukaemia.
Cure Leukaemia provided essential funding for our new day unit which opened in 2018. Patients can now benefit from having their outpatient appointments, bone marrow biopsies, chemotherapy, stem cell harvest and administration of stem cells all under one roof.
Cure leukaemia also fund ongoing essential education for nurses, which leads to higher quality patient care and increased job satisfaction.
Cure Leukaemia's primary focus is to fund specialist research nurses to give patients that have exhausted standard treatment access to potentially life saving clinical trials. From January 2020 the charity will nurses in 12 centres across the UK (including Birmingham) giving a catchment area of 20 million people access to these treatments.
Not only do these trials save lives but also hasten global progress towards the eradication of this cruel disease
All support of any kind is welcome and greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Ruby and Dave.
