Story
Molly (1 year old) and her daughter Polly (6 months) were both brought into Cats Protection Gateshead's care while heavily pregnant. They gave birth to their kittens less than 24 hours apart.
Our volunteer welfare officer, Barbara, helped to deliver a dozen kittens through the night and support the new mums. Sadly one kitten was stillborn. Less than a week later, Barbara noticed that Polly was unwell. Tragically the vet diagnosed her with lymphoma and she was put to sleep.
Since Polly's passing, Molly has been mum and grandma to the kittens and our volunteer fosterer, Cecielia, has been doing an incredible job of caring for the kittens around the clock - even bottle feeding them every three hours, day and night.
However, just last weekend, Cecielia shared the heartbreaking news that one kitten, Sophy, had passed away after suffering from vomiting and diarrhoea. This has been absolutely devastating for everyone at our Cats Protection branch.
We are now appealing for your help so that we can continue to support Molly and the 10 kittens.
With so many hungry little mouths to feed, we're running low on many essential items like kitten food, puppy pads, baby wipes, cat litter, wet food for mum and blankets - not to mention vet's bills.
All funds raised will be used to help Molly and the kittens. Thank you so much xxx
*Any funds raised over our target will be used to help other cats and kittens in our care*
