Alzheimer’s Research UK is the UK’s leading dementia research charity. We’re striving for a cure, by revolutionising the way we treat, diagnose and prevent dementia.

Story

Hi all! So most of you know my journey from being super unfit and 4.5 stone heavier to becoming a runner and exercise freak! Well... here starts my biggest challenge of all... to run the London Marathon!! I’m doing it for two main reasons:

1) To show the children you can do whatever you want if  you work hard and never, ever give up and show them that exercise is not a chore but something that you build into your life. I hope to inspire them to help them make healthy choices.

2) To raise as much money as is possible for Alzheimer’s Research UK - they desperately need our help.... see some stats below... and please help in any way you can. After all - every little helps!! Thanks all x

Delaying the onset on dementia by five years would reduce the numbers of people living with dementia by 36% - around 470,000 people.

The majority of dementia costs per year are due toinformal care at £11.6bn (44.2%), with social care costing £10.3bn (39.0%) and healthcare costs £4.3bn (16.4%). The total cost is over £26bn.
