Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Back in April this year my friend Lizzie and her husband Andrew welcomed their second child in to the world. A beautiful baby girl called Maisie Elizabeth, who her big brother Archer just dotes on. Tragically shortly after, due to complications following childbirth, we lost Lizzie despite all the amazing efforts of the doctors and nurses at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
Lizzie's passing has created a huge hole in all of our lives but with support, family and friends, we have been able to remember Lizzie through stories, photos and memories. And she most certainly will always be with me in everything I continue to do in life.
On 26th August I will be running the Great Aberdeen Run Half Marathon not only for our beautiful Lizzie, but also to raise money for Friends of The Special Nursery which is Aberdeen Royal Infirmary's charity for the neonatal department. After being born premature at 29 weeks, Maisie spent many weeks in this department being cared for by the wonderful staff. And without this department Maisie, along with many other premature babies, would not have the vital support they need at such an early age.
Lizzie would most certainly not be doing it with me as she would proclaim I was mad; she'd be right. But she would have supported me endlessly and have been there at the finish line to toast my efforts with our favourite champagne. Lizzie my darling I promise I will do you proud on the 26th.
All donations/sponsors, no matter how big or small are hugely appreciated and greatly welcomed.
Thank you,
Catriona
