Story
I am very proud to be part of the team at City Hospice, working to support people and their loved ones in their own homes with life-limiting illness. During the current crisis we are still working hard to protect and support our patients but with our fund-raising activities having been suspended, we need community support more than ever! In an average week each member of our clinical team drives approx 75 miles around Cardiff to support patients in their own homes. I have decided to see if I can row this distance and I would really appreciate if you can sponsor me! I am working full-time as well as working towards my MSc in Palliative Care so have decided to set a target of 75 miles by the end of May! Oh...and I'm usually allergic to exercise! 😳😳 I will be posting updates as I work towards my goal...all support and encouragement appreciated!! 😁
The City Hospice nurses and counsellors provide an essential service to those who need it most. The team support families through the most difficult of times and by maintaining the best quality of life, our nurses ensure patients and their families have the chance to create lasting memories.During the COVID 19 outbreak our commitment remains the same - to ensure our patients receive the care and compassion they deserve. If a person in our community; it may be a loved one, friend or colleague requires community palliative care, City Hospice is the outstanding charity which provides this essential service. We are Cardiff's local hospice. Our charity is partially funded by the NHS, and still needs to raise over £1.5m a year to deliver our service. We ask the community to help us during the difficult days ahead, so that we can continue to provide nursing and essential care to those who are terminally ill.
