Happy New Year Update!

I was so incensed by some ridiculous comments made by a UKIP condidate made in December that I felt compelled to carry on supporting Down's Syndrome Scotland.  Due to a technical hitch, however, I missed the registration of the official Bupa Winter 5k, so I ran the route today anyway!

Many thanks to all who have supported me in so many ways in 2012, and here's to a Happy 2013. I've extended this page until end March 2013 so if you'd like to keep spurring me on, that'd be great.

***********

This may come as a wee bit of shock to those of you who know that I'm probably not the fittest of your friends....but I have signed up to complete the BUPA Great Edinburgh 10k route on 7th October 2012.

This is my slightly different 2nd birthday present to my gorgeous (younger) godson Dillan: I shall be doing this to raise awareness and money for Down's Syndrome Scotland in their 30th anniversary year, as they have been such a great help to Dillan and his family.

Now, the more observant amongst you may have noticed the subtle qualification in what I'm proposing here - I am aiming to complete the route - but not necessarily running the whole way! I do want to make it to that next birthday after all (both his and mine), so my initial aim was just to walk it. I thought that as Dill's just learning to walk, so could I - but the mere thought of his smile has already inspired me to try that bit harder so now my aim is to run for at least 20 continuous minutes of it, which will be challenge enough. I have been doing a bit of training and so am hopeful I shall manage.

So, if you feel you can support me in this Loopy little venture, please consider donating a pound or few to my JustGiving target. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please donate whatever you can now, and thanks very much.
