Cathy Spear is raising money for Experience Camps
Story
Experience Camps are one-week camps for children who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling or primary caregiver. It's the place where everyone "gets it", where everyone understands what it means to lose someone so important to you. Where our campers can feel like "normal" kids. It's a unique blend of silly fun, meaningful conversations and powerful bonds. The camps are 100% free to all who attend and we are expanding rapidly to meet the growing demand; we started with 27 campers in 2009, and we grew to nearly 750 campers this summer, with an additional 100 campers on a wait list. Going forward, we hope to have no wait list and to expand to even greater numbers. And, a week of camp now costs over $2000.
So....... I am asking for your support.
If you could see the huge smiles as campers get off the bus that first day, hear the playful shrieks in the swimming pool or on the basketball court, listen to the poignant and sad stories during Sharing Circle times, watch the veteran campers lead songs in the dining room or watch the littlest campers do their part in the egg relay, or just observe the loving care and support that weaves its way through the week.....well, I know you'd have the same reaction I do. You'd want to do whatever you could to help.
