Story
When I moved to Kensal Green this year, I discovered I was part of a wonderful community with an incredible local cinema.
And... a legendary bunch of fund raisers called the Kensal Rise Tri Team.
This year we are by far the biggest group taking part in the Blenheim Triathlon this September - I think it was more than 170 people at the last count.
I must confess I'm not doing the full Triathlon, as I would undoubtedly
drown in the Blenheim Lake. But I'm doing the running stage of a
three-person Triathlon relay - and have to cover 5.4 km.
This is further than I'd ever run in my life, until I went into training!
At my advanced age, I am definitely all tortoise and no hare, but have now covered enough laps of Queens Park to be reasonably confident that I will stumble round the full course.
I'm running/crawling/staggering for the Lexi Cinema team. The movie house has just been named as one of Film London's Lodestar cinemas.
It's the UK's only social enterprise cinema and does fantastic work not just as an indie-cinema donating its profits to charity but it also supports vulnerable people in our Queens Park & Kensal Rise community.
For this event, all sponsorship will help fund the community partners programme which benefits refugee communities via our local refugee charity, Salusbury World. Year round, the cinema also gives its profits to charity, providing vital support to the pioneering Sustainability Institute in South Africa.
