Hello and thank you for taking time to visit my just giving page.
My name is Cathy Hayden and after successfully completing the couch to 5k challenge I have decided to challenge myself further. When doing so, I am hoping to raise some much needed funds for The Cure Parkinson’s Trust.
I have chosen this particular charity in support of my brother-in-law James Hayden and my friends George Healy and Cathleen Harold who are currently all living with Parkinson’s. Being diagnosed with Parkinson's has been life changing for these people and is for all those diagnosed. There is currently no cure and existing treatments only aim to improve the symptoms. Coming to terms with the impact this disease has on their life is extremely hard and many people will also suffer from and anxiety and depression.
The mission of ‘Cure Parkinson’s Trust’ is ‘to find disease- modifying treatments which slow, stop or even reverse Parkinson’s’ and the Trust will only fund projects that can demonstrate the potential to do this.
Over the course of seven days beginning 4th October 2020 I intend to complete as many 5k’s as I can. My target is 20km across the week. Please support me as I run by making a donation. Together we can help fund research breakthroughs and provide vital support that could transform the lives of all people living with this debilitating disease.
A few words from George Healys Daughter
My advice to anyone whose parent has recently been diagnosed with PD or has been struggling for years with the disease would be to embrace every moment as a gift. This might sound cliché, but right now is all we have until there is a cure for this horrible disease. Try not to be discouraged by this disease, focus instead on what you love about them being your parent, and help them to see that you love them for who they are. Yes, we all agree it is truly heart-breaking to watch someone you love to become less physically able, but the person you love is still there.
Please help and support into finding a cure for this disease. Thank you.
