Over the last 13 years, I have seen what a fantastic charity Dreamflight is. We take children and young people whose lives are limited by illness and disability and give them the holiday of a lifetime, away from their families and their daily pain and difficulties. We enable them to have fun with their peers and see that they are not the odd ones out. Year after year we see that youngsters are empowered and given a sense of being differently abled but not disadvantaged, an ethos borne out by the achievements of many previous Dreamflight children who have excelled in the paralympics.

I love a challenge and have chosen my 50th year to stretch myself and compete in my first triathlon. I have had to learn to swim freestyle, with the aid of lessons and lots of practice. The whole event is still terrifying but I will be spurred on by the opportunity to raise funds for my favourite   charity, please dig deep and support me.
