Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. In September 2014, I went overseas with ICS to India as a volunteer to work with young people on projects relating to health and livelihoods. At the age of 24 I truly believed that my life's path was set in stone and that I would never be proud of who I was. However, I took a leap (and a plane) out of my comfort zone and ICS changed me into the person I am today. Too many of our young people in the UK come out of compulsory education not knowing what to do with their futures so take the safest route even if it doesn’t make them happy. ICS aims to inspire young people in the UK and overseas to become active citizens who are passionate about long term community development. ICS works with communities that have specifically requested their help in the developing world to make futures that include us all.

I believe that the only futures worth building are those that include all of us, no matter who we are.

This time, I have been selected to volunteer overseas to Malawi in February as a Team Leader with International Service (I.S.) on an International Citizen Service placement. I.S. empowers women, children and young people, and people with disabilities to access their rights in developing countries across the world. They offer volunteer placements overseas and work in areas such as female empowerment, disability rights and child poverty.

The first part of my placement is a challenge to raise £800 towards the work of International Service and their ICS partners. The money raised will go towards enabling the overall costs of ICS, ensuring they can continue sending youth volunteers to the developing world to make a lasting difference in disadvantaged communities.
