For most people it won't come as much of a surprise to know that I'm not the most athletic of people, I'm far happier with a glass of wine and my feet up than with my trainers on! So call it a moment of madness but myself and Will together with Polly & Andy (my sister & brother in law) will be taking on The Cheltenham Lido Triathlon in memory of my little boy Joshua. 

The Triathlon consists of:

500m Swim
13km Cycle
3km Run 

Whilst it's a huge challenge for me, it's one that I'm eager to do, especially to raise money in Joshua's memory for such a great cause.

Life hasn't been the same for us since we lost Joshua, and some days are incredibly hard but the support we've received from our family and friends has been amazing, along with the the support from charities like The Mariposa Trust and SANDS. 

The statistics are actually quite shocking, 17 babies are still born or die shortly after birth every day in the UK. It’s a devastating experience for any parent. It’s a loss of a precious life, and whether the loss happens in early or late pregnancy, at birth or in infancy it’s traumatic and life changing experience.

The Mariposa Trusts is an organisation dealing with the suffering caused by miscarriage and stillbirth, by not only offering crucial support to those who need it, but by also working with hospitals, trusts and many other key organisations to support and advise on fundamental changes that can help bereaved individuals. The work is conducted through two divisions:

Saying Goodbye offers support and befriending to anyone who has lost a baby, and it also runs national remembrance services at Cathedrals across the UK, which allow families to come together to mourn their lost babies.

GrowingYou is the second division, and offers support to anyone who is pregnant following loss, as the fear of losing again can be profound for many people.

So if you'd like to make a donation, however big or small it really will be much appreciated and go to a fantastic cause.
