Story
In April 2024 it will be 26 years since I last ran the London Marathon - longer than many of the patients supported by this brilliant charity have been alive! Since then I have qualified as a vet, had 5 children, opened my own vet practice, learned to manage my anxiety and depression and lost my beloved mother to cancer.
Losing mum was heartbreaking, but I couldn't help thinking how awful it would be to receive such a diagnosis in a child or young person. At a time of life when they should be having fun and looking forward to exploring all that the world has to offer it is just so cruel to be facing the fear and uncertainty of a cancer diagnosis. My mother loved children and young people - she was always supportive of them and took time to listen to their ideas, hopes and dreams. I believe I have another marathon in me - to complete it and raise funds for this fabulous charity would be a most fitting tribute to a wonderful mum.❤️
