My precious daughter Madi was born 20th April 2003 with the biggest eyes and most hair I'd ever seen. Unfortunately she went through so much in her first year that she spent longer in hospital than out. She was finally diagnosed with a generalised myopathy and a cardiomyopathy. She had repeated hospital stays and numerous procedures. However she never complained and never allowed anything to hold her back. Getting her electric wheelchair and then having a tracheostomy in 2009 revolutionised her life. It improved her independence and cut her time in hospital to a minimum. In 2011 she was lucky enough to have her own assistance dog, Odie, provided by Dogs for the Disabled. They were each other's best friend. Tragically she passed away on the 11th June 2012.
