Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On the 25th April I will be running the London Marathon in aid of St Catherine's Hospice.
I have chosen this charity because it is local and through my friend I have heard first hand about the wonderful work that they do. St Catherine's provided care for my friend's Mum in the last five weeks of her life over Christmas and into the New Year.
They not only provided nursing care but emotional support so that her Mum was prepared and not frightened of what was to come. Care was not limited to her Mum, it was extended to support the whole family and even now St Catherine's support is still only a phone call away should they need it.
Most people think of a hospice as a sad place, however this is not the case. St Catherine's Hospice has a very happy atmosphere. There is laughter and fun especially in the Day Therapy unit where patients who are fit enough can enjoy painting, massage, relaxation classes, have their hair done and have a cup of tea and a chat.
In 2008/09 the running costs were £3.9 million of which only 30% was received from the government. This means that almost £3 million has to be raised through donations and fund raising events etc.
I have been training hard now for 6 months and I will be running the whole 26.2 miles not walking - I will be suffering for your money!! So PLEASE support a local lass and give to a very worthy charity.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Thank you
