Story
Hello, it’s the cycling grandma here, setting myself yet another challenge, this time to cycle 260 miles over 3 days, this will be completed at home on my road bike on a trainer, not my favorite way to cycle, but for now due to the virus this cannot be completed on the roads.
I have supported military charities my whole adult life, 46 years, raising funds and helping in anyway I can those who serve and have served our country and their families. I believe those who have served our country, have done so with great courage and I also believe they have earned the right to our help. I have taken on many challenges over the years, from running marathons, cycling from Edinburgh to London 500 miles in five days, climbing Ben Nevis with profoundly wounded Royal Marines, but this challenge is very special to me because this is for Erskine , the very first charity I ever supported and the charity my parents supported when I was a child. Through my mum and dad, they showed me the way, I was taught at a very young age about service and sacrifice , as well as service before self. I have tried to encourage my grandchildren Matilda and Nathaniel to respect, value and care for our military and veterans and I am proud to say that they have supported many fundraising events I have organized. The children are the future we must encourage our children and grandchildren to support those who come after this older generation and in doing so Erskine will still be here for another 104 years.
In this very difficult time that the world is facing, Erskine are continuing to care for those who sacrificed so much in our county’s name and I have seen first hand the wonderful care offered to them. Recently I visited Erskine where I met veterans of all ages and it was a joy to see how happy they were, they could not praise the staff enough. Erskine home is exactly that “A Home” a real place of comfort and caring.
I'm joining Erskine in fighting for them, as they fought for us Donations to Erskine are more important than ever at this moment in time. Our Veterans were once Britains frontline forces protecting our nation against dark threats and I'm doing my 2.6 Challenge to protect them now. Please join me in proudly telling the world you helped me complete #OperationErskineFrontline or better yet, set yourself a challenge!
Kind Regards
Catherine 😁
