We have set ourselves this challenge to complete the Race to the Stones, a 100km (62 miles) endurance event which we plan to achieve in just 1 day!. We plan to run the majority of it but may also include some Nordic walking when we need to.( please visit www.nordicwalkingwatford.co.uk to find out more about this.
We want to raise vital funds for the charity Fight for Sight.
My story, In 2012 I gave birth to a beautiful set of twins prematurely at 28 weeks. Sienna and Joshua spent along time in special care. Now aged 3 years Sienna and Joshua are healthy, cheeky toddlers, full of fun, laughter and mischief. Unfortunately due to Sienna's prematurity Sienna's eyes did not form correctly and this has left her with a severe visual impairment. Sienna only has a small pocket of light perception in her left eye and will need to learn Braille. Sienna relies on a white cane to gain more independence when out and about. As her mummy and a family this has been very hard to come to terms with. Myself and my running buddies Jane and John decided to set ourselves our biggest running challenge to date -to run 62 miles. This will be the toughest event the three of us have every tried to tackle, but for us this challenge will be over in a day whilst for Sienna and others with a visual impairment their challenge will be life long unless a cure can be found.
