Story
Most who know me will know that I am a very proud Marie Curie Nurse and Wallsend Harrier.
Next weekend (over the Saturday and Sunday) I am going to complete a 26.2 mile marathon distance run around my back garden. I am going to do this to raise money for Marie Curie.
I am aware that we are allowed to exercise outside and, I absolutely take advantage of that liberty. However, Marie Curie has suggested that we fundraise safely from our own homes. The advice is for us to stay home and stay safe.
I am sure if your life has been touched by Marie Curie that you will understand the importance of what we do.
Marie Curie nurses help people with life limiting conditions. We help with symptom management; for example with pain and nausea. This enables people to live as best life as is possible with the condition that they have. We also care for people who are at the end of their lives and for their families.
It is a privilege to be there to help a patient and their family through what must be the darkest of times. To be able to ease someone's pain and ensure that they have dignity and quality care in their final days is a most rewarding and absolutely necessary job.
Marie Curie's main fundraiser The Great Daffodil Appeal was cut short due to the spread of the coronavirus.
I kindly ask if you may have stopped and bought a daffodil in the supermarket, or if you have anything to spare at this time if you could sponsor my effort and help our vital work continue.
Best wishes and much love to you all.
Catherine ❤
