Story
When Catherine was first diagnosed with terminal cancer in October 2020 she was devastated by the news, but vowed to undergo chemotherapy and fight the disease for as long as possible. All too soon though the pain from the cancer increased and, even with strong painkillers, became impossible to manage at home.
In December she was taken into hospital and the week before Christmas was moved to the Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice in Peterborough, with the intention of developing a pain management routine over the next couple of weeks that would then allow her to return home again. However, Catherine suffered a number of setbacks and after three weeks was moved back to hospital with a serious chest infection. This proved to be too much for her and she passed away peacefully on the evening of the 12th January.
During her time at Thorpe Hall she received the best of care from a dedicated team of Doctors and nurses, through a difficult period where family visits were severely restricted. She would be pleased to know that donations, on her behalf, were being made to Sue Ryder in order that others could also benefit from much needed care and support at a truly difficult time in their own lives.
Please feel free to give generously in memory of Catherine.
