Simplyhealth Great South Run 2020 · 18 October 2020 ·

Motor Neurone Disease moves fast. It takes away time, it takes away independence and it has no cure. Every day we support people affected by MND. We fund ground-breaking research. We campaign for better care. We’re here for everyone who needs us. Because with MND, every day matters.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Last year my husband died from Motor Neurone Disease. I cared for him and watched him decline for 2.5 yrs and then on 19th July 2019 my young daughters and I said goodbye.
His determination for not giving up in the face of this cruel disease was inspirational.

MND is a disease for which there is no cure or medication. It slowly strips the sufferer of all physical and personal independence, leaving them trapped in a body which no longer works. It’s cruel to suffer, it’s cruel to watch.

Great strides are being made in research to understand the disease and one day I believe there will be a way to slow it, if not stop it. All the money raised in Scott’s name will therefore go towards research, as was his request.

Now the Great South Run has been cancelled due to COVID, I will be running the GSR Solo. This involves registering 25 runs during September and October and finishing with the 10mile GSR distance on 18th October. I pledge to run 100 miles for the challenge.

Thank you for helping me help fight MND - no finish line til there is a cure.
