Story
I along with Team Dev who is made up of my sister Jo, brother Jamie, sister in law Helen, sister in law Julia Anderson, brother in law Ste Cadwallader, friends Jo and Andy Ruffell, Helen Webb, Sariya Gaughan and my cousin and his wife Reuben and Tracey are running the Mbro 10k and Great North Run in memory of my late husband Russ Devereux. My sister in law Caroline and friend Suzanne Julian have started training very recently from nothing and will be running the mbro 10k with us too.
Russ died by suicide in May 2018. He was caring, loving, husband and Dad, had a great sense of humour and was a kind and gentle soul who was a talented golfer and was loved by all who knew him.
Our running journey starts with the 10k and Great North Run and is completed next year when I will be running the London marathon. All donations will go towards funding the Russ Devereux Headlight Project which provides counselling and play therapy to children and young adults with the aim of building emotional resilience. It is also an aim of the project to work with adults and provide training on mental health and well being in the workplace and suicide prevention.
Any donations will fund a much needed service. Russ was a patron of MTPF and the philanthropic foundation have supported the project to enable me to get it up and running and we will continue to work together for the benefit of people in our local communities.
