Story
Hi Guys!
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and listening to me going on about my Cuba trek challenge incessantly! ;-D
For those of you who have not had the pleasure in hearing all about it I shall explain...
In order to raise money for Girl Guiding UK, I have decided to do something a little different from your average supermarket bag pack or raffle... In November 2010 I shall be walking across Cuba in blistering heat and through thick jungle (and possibly the odd tropical storm!). It shall be 7-10 days of gruelling trek facing mozzies and (as my darling fiancé Dave reminded me) my worst fear.. big hairy spiders!
"What! is this the same Cath who doesn't 'do' excercise?!" I hear you ask... Yes, it is and it is not a decision I took lightly...
As a member of the Girl Guides when I was a teenager, I was given the opportunity to travel internationally, develop my teamwork and leadership skills amongst many other wonderful things. These experiences and skills proved invaluable in later working and personal life and I believe that I would not be the person that I am today without having being given those opportunities by the organisation. That is why I wish to do something extraordinary to raise money for an organisation that I feel really does put girls (and women) in the lead so that they can have access to the same amazing opportunities as I had.
So while you think of me battling through jungle thicket facing my fear of big hairy spiders and have a really good laugh at me in the comfort of your (spider free) dry home, please donate to show your support.
Even if all you can spare is £1 - it will still help to make a difference - Please donate :-)
