Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit ourJustGiving page.
We are Catherine and Lynn, who as you probably know are daughter (23) and mother (51) respectively.
Lynn was at Low Wood in Sept 2008, and came across the Great North swim. It looked fantastic and a declaration was made that she would do it the following year.
However that didn't happen, but in 2009 Lynn was at Low Wood again and decided to rope Catherine into the event as support.
So we entered, and chose guide dogs for the blind as our charity. One of the main reasons being sight is very important to us as catherine was born with a cataract and has only ever had sight in one eye.
Since entering things have taken a downwards spiral as both our local swimming pools closed at the same time so we had to travel for training.
We also found out in March that our beloved mum and nan was terminally ill and spent the next 4 months at her bedside, so very little in the way of training was done. Sadly she lost her fight for life on 20th July.
We are so glad we chose this charity, as our mum and nan was an avid dog lover, she would always donate what little she could to the guide dogs for the blind, and loved to stop and talk to anyone who had a dog of any kind.
We are now back in training and determined to do this in Mum and Nan's memory.
UPDATE!!!
Due to Blue Green Algae, The Great NOrth Swim was cancelled, however we will be swimming the mile in Capernwray Diving Centre at Carnforth on Saturday evening 2nd October 2010.
So please donate whatever you can and a massive big thank you in advance, Cath and Lynn
