Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Last year, I joined my daughter and her then boyfriend (now husband) on the London to Brighton bike ride. I had done almost no training and although I walked up most of the hills, I finished.
I decided that I would complete the challenge again in 2018, but this time I would train and cycle it all.
A few weeks later, my Mum was diagnosed with terminal Cancer. We spent our last Christmas with her and she died on 12th February 2018. My daughter was married in July. Horrendous and joyful, events only months apart. And together, my excuse for not doing that training- that and my laziness.
My Mum never learned to ride a bike but was always proud of our achievements in her own quiet way. I am determined to finish and in a faster time than last year - even if only by one minute.
Bike4Cancer is a charity that was set up by a group of keen cyclists who has all lost a loved one to Cancer. They provide specialist cancer respite and support research. It’s a great charity and if you would like to make a donation in memory of Gill and recognition of my cycling challenge, please follow the simple instructions. Thank you xxx
