Story
To mark the end of the 5in5forfive challenge, I'll be running to raise money for My Name'5 Doddie Foundation.
I wouldn't have seriously considered this challenge if I hadn’t somewhat been inspired by Kevin Sinfield’s 7 marathons challenge last year, to raise funds for a former teammate who was diagnosed with Motor-Neurone-Disease (MND). As someone who comes from a non-sporting professional background and an at home office job, I don’t think I could quite hack the full 131 miles over a 5 day period. So here’s hoping that half the distance will be somewhat more manageable!
MND is a condition that affects the brain and nerves - it causes muscles to weaken and stiffen, and can affect how one walks, talks, eats, drinks, breathes, behaves and thinks. It is a life shortening condition and there is currently no cure for it.
Founded by Scottish rugby legend, Doddie Weir, my Name’5 Doddie Foundation uses donations and funding to provide care and support to people affected by MND, as well as funding vital research into finding a cure.
All donations, no matter how large or small, are hugely welcomed and appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your support.
