Story
The Challenge:
Saturday 2nd September 2017
A team of twenty individuals of different ages from various swim clubs attempting to swim from Caernarfon Castle to Beaumaris Castle (12
miles) along the Menai Strait, battling strong currents, whirl pools within the swellies and of course it will be jelly fish season (!), to raise as much money for TeamIrfon to support his lasting legacy.
The Cause:
The swim challengers are raising money in aid of the
#TeamIrfon Campaign through Awyr Las, the North Wales NHS charity.
Money raised through #TeamIrfon has and will continue to
fund wigs and headwear for patients, complementary therapies like reflexology and therapeutic massage, new equipment for the Alaw Unit, and specialist training to enable NHS staff to identify mental health difficulties in patients with cancer, allowing signposting to counselling and specialist mental health services. The mental health of Cancer patients and their family members is something that Irfon and his wife Becky viewed as of paramount importance. The campaign has also helped to fund part of a major redevelopment of the Alaw Unit which opened this year, which included the construction of a dedicated
counselling room.
Thank you for your support :)
