On Friday 15th October 2021, some of the team at Castle Leslie Estate will be taking part in Focus Ireland's ‘Shine a Light’ virtual sleep-out night to help raise awareness on the issue of homelessness in Ireland. 

You may be shocked to learn that as of today, there are currently 930 families, including 2,129 children experiencing homelessness. Every day in Ireland another two families are forced to move from their homes into homelessness. They come from every walk of life. But their stories are always the same. They pack their entire lives into boxes, taking only what they can carry. They have no idea where they will sleep that night. Until they are told what emergency accommodation they are being sent to. There, they will live together, in one room, for months on end. With no place for their children to play. No place to cook a family meal. No privacy. And no hope. And that ordeal will continue, day after day, month after month, until they can finally, move home.

That is why we are raising as much money as we can for Focus Ireland to help them provide the kind of practical and emotional support that really matters to struggling families and children living in homelessness.
