Story
The current social distancing measures are putting a strain on the mental health of many in Northern Ireland and sadly there’s stigma
around mental health, a taboo subject people feel uncomfortable talking
about.
As a school we are working to promote emotional health and well-being; we encourage our pupils to build resilience and maintain positive mental health and in doing so we are increasing their understanding of depression which will reduce the stigma surrounding the illness.
AWARE is the depression charity for Northern Ireland; and they have been very supportive of our aim to promote the emotional health and wellbeing of our students. They have provided numerous mental health and wellbeing programmes to CHS students and provided us with extensive guidance. AWARE also support people in our community with depression as well as carers of the illness.
AWARE will strive to continue to be a source of support for those who need it but need your help. With AWARE's fundraising events being put on hold due to COVID-19, they need support from people like you so they can continue supporting people who are struggling with their mental health, particularly at this difficult time. All funds raised will go towards supporting those living in Northern Ireland with depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder.
As a school we would like you to help us fundraise for AWARE, as their support and guidance is invaluable to our school community.
So....get active in lockdown with the CHS10 challenge and help raise vital funds for AWARE so they can continue to support the students of Castlederg High School.
Whether you do 1k a day, break it into bigger chunks, or take on the full 10K in one go, you’ll be helping AWARE to continue providing support.
