Update 06/06/10 - Did it! Thank you for all your kind support. I will now have raised a total of £1,010 which is fantastic. Your support will make a huge difference to RNLI South-West. Thanks again - an email is on the way. -- Thierry
Update 01/06/10 - 5 days to go! Thank you for all your donations so far - it is really appreciated. Including my employer's 100% contribution I should be raising nearly £1000!
Yesterday I had a trial swim in the sea. The icebergs were a bit of nuisance but it was OK with a wetsuit. I only paddled along for about 500m by which point I knew I can do it for real, waves & currents permitting. In the pool I recently managed to frontcrawl 1 mile in under 28 minutes. In the open sea it will be tougher & longer but I am ready - fingers crossed!
If you haven't yet donated, there are now 3 good reasons to do so: 1. it's getting close to D-Day 2. my employer, Landmark Information Group, will kindly match your donation & double your money 3. My training has minimised the chances of RNLI wasting your donation and their resources on rescuing me - so your investment should be safe!
Thank you on behalf of RNLI,
Thierry
