Story
I have decided to do dry January! (Which could prove challenging in current Covid times!!)
After finding out that our Oliver has the gene mutation for Adrenoleukodystrophy, (ALD) this charity has been our absolute rock. We are so lucky that we can have bi-yearly MRIs to make sure that there are no changes to the white matter of Oliver’s brain. We had our second MRI today and his bravery is humbling. He is an absolute superstar and Lee and I couldn’t be prouder of his resilience to being in hospital at the young age of three years old and being prodded and poked, cannulas, blood draws and a general anaesthetic. It would mean the world to Lee and I, if you could join us in donating to this wonderful charity.
Alex TLC is the only charity in the UK that provides invaluable support to anyone affected by a genetic leukodystrophy. Leukodystrophies are genetic disorders that mainly affect the white matter of the central nervous system (i.e. the brain or spinal cord). Most leukodystrophies are degenerative, causing symptoms such as impaired mobility, vision, speech and hearing, incontinence, inability to swallow and loss of cognitive skills. In some cases, they can sadly be terminal.By supporting my Give Up to Give Back challenge, you can help Alex TLC continue to make a real difference to those lives of those with leukodystrophies and their families.
