Racing 21 miles and 21 Parkruns for Down Syndrome
Fundraising for DSGN
Fundraising for DSGN
Hello,
Thanks for visiting our page.
On Sunday 29th September I will be taking part in my first 10k in 3.5 years - Preston 10k. Training towards this race has made me realise how much I love running, especially when I am doing it for a cause close to my heart.
So, while I have been out pounding the pavements, I decided I wanted to make my running debut as a Mommy supporting DSGN, our local charity supporting individuals with Down Syndrome (DS) and their families.
Mark and I are extremely grateful for all the support we have received since Ollie's diagnosis. They offer a valuable mix of support from Speech and Language and Occupational Therapy to Sing and Sign sessions and a host of events for the local DS community throughout the year.
Sunday's race with kick-off my personal challenge of racing 21 miles (mix of 10 and 5k's) between now and Christmas. Mark and I will also run 21 Parkruns between us from now until March 21st 2020 which is World Down Syndrome Day.
Why the focus on 21 I hear you ask? Well, there are three types of Down Syndrome with Trisomy 21(T21) being the most common type and the one Ollie has. We want to raise awareness of T21 through this challenge and celebrate our brilliant boy who rocks his extra chromosome so beautifully and makes us so so proud everyday.
If you can spare a penny or two between now and March 21st we would be extremely grateful.
Thank you,
Cass, Mark and Ollie xx
