Story
PLEASE please can you spare what you can for this worthwhile cause? Having recently been admitted to The Rowan Suite, I really want to give back. It is a room no one wants to be in, yet are thankful for its existence when one is in need of it. It was a huge benefit to be in a calm, comfortable, thoughtfully decorated space with midwives just outside, and a connected cold room. It made such an awful experience a little bit more bearable. Having said that, the room could benefit from a refurb and sound proofing. Hearing other babies cry whilst having just lost your own is incredibly hard.
"The Rowan Suite is used by our specialist bereavement midwife team for those parents going though the most difficult time you can imagine. The suite is next to the labour ward, it has to be for practical reasons, but this does mean that you do run the risk of hearing other mums in labour and also hearing those first new born cries, which can be heart breaking to hear. The Suite requires some enhancements to make it as pleasant a place as possible for the parents who are in there, two things that will help this are air conditioning & sound proofing, two things you won't immediately notice but would be very grateful for, so this is what we are fundraising for and as soon as we reach our target the hospital are ready to carry out the work."
