Story
Why?
There are 1.5 million care workers in the UK, contributing to one of the largest workforces, and caring for some of the most vulnerable people in our society. For the UK's care workers, early starts, long hours and mentally draining work are part and parcel of the job. As a result, it's all too easy for illness, or other unforeseen circumstances, to push them beyond their financial limits.
What & When?
To support this amazing workforce we are strapping on our walking boots and joining fellow fundraisers on the 1st October 2021 to trek one of the most well-known historic landmarks: Hadrian's Wall (well, 25km/13 miles of it), come rain or shine!
Where?
Hadrian's Wall was built in AD122 on the orders of the Roman Emperor Hadrian, and stretched from the East to West coasts of Britain from Bowness on Solway in the West to Wallsend in the East. Now a UNESCO World Heritage Site which cuts through Northumberland National Park, Hadrian’s Wall attracts trekkers from all over as it offers great challenging walks, filled with a stunning backdrop and history.
After being postponed three times, the event is finally happening!
