Dad's Story
Dad has been battling Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma since 2001.
After years of chemotherapy, radiotherapy and drug trials, options had run out. A transplant was needed to save his life.
Receiving his autologus bone marrow transplant just days after Christmas in 2015, Dad spent weeks in a sterile isolation ward while his immune system rebuilt itself.
Dad is now in his third year as a transplant survivor 💪🏼
Why Anthony Nolan?
There are still good days and bad days, but there is no doubt Dad would not be here today without his lifesaving transplant.
Every day, Anthony Nolan saves the lives of people with a blood cancer or blood disorder by matching incredible individuals willing to donate their stem cells, to people who desperately need a transplant to save or extend their lives.
Anthony Nolan also carry out cutting edge scientific research, fund specialist post-transplant nurses and support patients and their families through the agonising transplant process and beyond.
Our Dad was one of the fortunate ones, but there are so many who are still waiting 💚
Rebecca & Vicky's Challenge
So far we've tackled the hottest London Marathon on record(!), the iconic Race To The Stones 'Ultramarathon', running 100 kilometers (or two & a half marathons!) in a single event, and the Chicago, Boston, and Edinburgh Marathons. Phew!
Berlin Marathon is our next big fundraiser for 2019!
Training for, and completing, these events never gets any easier and involves hundreds and hundreds of miles of training. But it's all for an incredible cause...
Over to you...
Anthony Nolan won’t stop until they save the lives of everyone who needs a transplant. Every penny you donate brings them closer to that day.
Don't forget, if you're aged 16-30 you can also help by joining the Anthony Nolan register. Request a kit online today!
