Story
Thank you for visiting my Just Giving page.
I am walking the West Highland Way to raise funds for Arthritis Care's Living Well with Arthritis programme, helping people in Scotland to access self -management support information and activities through our Joint Potential and our Joint Activity projects. All our services are delivered by volunteers, people who themselves are living with arthritis and other long term conditions, who give their time to support others in their local communities.
Every day I speak with people who face significant pain, challenges and the complex medical impacts on their life due to their arthritis, and yet the overwhelming sense that comes across to me is one of positivity, that more can and should be done, that there is a fight back against this chronic condition taking over. People want their lives back, they want control. Whether they are 10 years old or over 90 - a good quality of life is what people want and at Arthritis Care our reason for being is to facilitate ways for people to achieve this for themselves. Our Director of Fundraising asked the team to look at a challenge that we could undertake to support fundraising objectives ourselves, converting our written and spoken determination into positive action and as a team in October we are all taking steps to achieve this challenge.
My challenge is literally to "Walk the Talk" to take approx. 180, 000 Steps over 5 days (looking to do this in under 50 hours) covering 96 miles from Glasgow to the Highlands of Scotland, by Walking the West Highland way!
Please support me to support these incredibly valuable services, every pound pledged is extremely important to help deliver support to individuals, families, groups and carers; in person, on the phone and online.
Thank You!
Caron
