Story
In November 2022 I am trekking through the Knuckles Mountain Range in Sri Lanka alongside my big sister, Ali and niece, Becky. I'll be working my way through rice paddies, forests and tea blanketed highlands before reaching the highest point, Knuckles Peak.
I'm participating in this challenge to raise funds for the Endeavor Project, formally known as 'Paws for Kids'. They were the first domestic abuse charity in the UK to offer an in-house pet fostering service to enable those with pets to flee an abusive household without surrendering or leaving their animals. However, their work has been extended to support many more people including:
- Domestic abuse support for Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic
- Support for domestic abuse survivors in temporary accommodation.
- Young Persons development work
- Domestic abuse help for over 55's and several more....
In fact, all of their projects are ACCESSIBLE TO ANYONE who is affected by domestic abuse and they encourage male and LGBTQI+ victims and survivors to access support.
A little more from Endeavor Project....
Last year 1.9 women aged 16-59 reported suffering domestic abuse since the age of 16.Two women a week are murdered by their partner or ex partner and 30 men were murdered last year as a result of domestic violence .25% of domestic abuse survivors returned to a abusive partner out of concern for their pet. Here at Endeavour we offer a unique fostering service for pets ensuring that no one gets left behind. We receive no funding for this service and rely on the support of amazing people like you to keep these animals safe until they can return home.
