Story
Camp Kudzu is a nonprofit organization serving children and teens living with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D). Camp Kudzu supports these children, teens, and families by providing year-round experiences and educational opportunities at various locations throughout Georgia.
I was diagnosed with Type 1 when I was seven years old. A few years later I started attending Camp Kudzu. It is hard to explain my first year of camp in words. There is just such peace you feel, even as a 10 year old, knowing you are not the on that is different for a week. You know that everyone else understands when you have to stop and check your blood sugar. You know everyone else is counting carbs at meals. You know that the adults around you can take care of you no matter what.
I am so thankful I got to go to camp every summer growing up. Camp taught me to be independent, brave, more outgoing, and confident in my Diabetes. Camp has given me a support group and life long friends. I love that now as an adult I can still volunteer every summer and help kids living with Type 1 have the same experience I had as a kid.
By participating in the Sugar Bowl again this year, I get to help fund more camp programs and send more kids to camp. Thank you for considering donating to this organization that is so important to me!
