My husband, Chris and I are running TODAY!
May 2022 Update: 4th June at Stanford Hall, Wolf Run. It’s just 4 weeks away. I’ll be running it with my husband on Saturday 4th June. And it’s nearly a year now since Dad left this world. It’s a pretty strange and hard time to be honest. I need to train, train and train to complete this 10k challenge and raise the most I can for the amazing Arthur Rank Hospice who looked after my ever loved Dad with such care and respect in his very last days. Please give if you can so they can continue to care for more people and their families, like mine. ❤️
June 2021. My amazing, happy, joke telling, witty, intelligent, music loving, QPR fan, loving and always caring Dad died two weeks ago. That’s the first time I’ve written that, I’ve yet to say it.
His funeral was yesterday. I need focus and in setting myself this challenge I’ll have that and hopefully be able to raise money for some seriously, amazing, essential charities. My precious Dad, suffering for years with vascular dementia, but 10 weeks ago he was diagnosed with a very rare and aggressive Salivary Gland Cancer. It was so aggressive it changed every time I saw him, at least twice a week up to every single day, little did I know that THAT was the cancer snatching him away from us.
Support for my Dad but my Mum (his carer) was no way near as one would want or expect in such harrowing times. Not until The Arthur Rank Hospice. I understand the NHS is seriously underfunded but for spaces that can be supported like the hospice which is half NHS half charity funded, I want to contribute so that more people suffering can be better supported and cared for. The hospice staff were so caring, the rooms peaceful, the gardens beautiful, the hospice is just not to be faulted.
I, my Mum, my husband and upon an update from my brother, my nephew, Dad’s eldest Grandson, Jack will too, dare to Sky Dive along with the 10k Wolf Run.. We want to raise money for not only The Alzheimer’s Society, MacMillan but ultimately, The Arthur Rank Hospice, Cambridge. It is the hospice that looked after Dad in his last few days. The care they gave not only my Dad was faultless, but also the care they gave us! Dad’s family all around him for those days, everyday, they were there for us, all of us, in every way possible.
Every donation will contribute to this, make me proud and make my Dad damn proud too. 😉
Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever.Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.
