UPDATE!
Well, I did it! As I'm not used to exercise I have been in constant pain from having cycled 26 miles on Saturday so I have earned every penny that you have kindly donated!
Roger and I set off from my parents' home and visited the churches of Chilbolton, Wherwell, Goodworth Clatford, Abbotts Ann, Monxton, Amport, Thruxton, Kimpton, Fyfield, Appleshaw and Weyhill. I hoped to be able to make one more church to make a dozen but by the time we got to Weyhill at 4pm, I was drooping and it still took another 1 1/2 hours to get back to Chilbolton. I worked out that we cycled 26 miles, a marathon! I'm astonished that it was so far but I'm very proud I managed this for The Historic Churches Trust, but as I'm sure you can imagine I am still in pain! Thank you all again for being so generous with your donations. By the way, my Just Giving page will be active for a while longer if you haven't yet sent a donation!
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I've always supported friends giving their time to raise funds for their charity but have never actually raised funds for anything myself! Being Parish Administrator for 3 ancient churches in Winchester has made me aware how important the work of the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Historic Churches Trust is to provide grants to repair old churches and chapels which would otherwise fall into ruin. Half the money donated goes to the Trust and the other half goes to the upkeep of a chosen church, which in my case will be the Church of St Lawrence-in-the-Square in Winchester.
The Ride & Stride day on Saturday 14th September raises money for the charity and involves cycling, walking, even horseriding to churches along a chosen route. I haven't been on a bicycle for about 10 years, so this will be a real challenge for me! I have chosen to cycle around the Test Valley in the hope that the roads will be nice and quiet, and hopefully flat!
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
I'm aware that you must get requests for donations from many others too, so I don't expect a donation from everyone nor would I expect more than a small donation. Thank you for donating to this charity!
