Dan, myself and our brother in law Matthew are taking part in the Manchester 10K  run on Sunday 26th September. We are raising funds for Teenage Cancer Trust. Our son James was diagnosed with a rare type of liver cancer called Fibrolamellar Hepatocellular Carcinoma in December 2019 when he was 15 years old. 

James had an operation to remove a tumour from his liver, followed by 4 months of chemotherapy. James was treated at Leeds General Infirmary and whilst having treatment he spent time on the Teenage Cancer Trust ward. On the ward James spent time with people his own age which really helped as they understood what is was like being a teenager and having treatment for cancer. The Teenage Cancer wards are great as they have youth co-ordinators who arrange games/pizza nights and days out. Unfortunately many of the activities run by Teenage Cancer Trust have not been able to go ahead during the pandemic but the support provided to James has been exceptional. 

James is currently classed as having no evidence of disease and has regular check ups - after taking some time off to recover from treatment James is starting A levels in September and has a part time job. James was keen to give something back to Teenage Cancer Trust and is part of the charities Youth Advisory Board.
