Story
Our mother Caroline, was an ardent supporter of Hft. She carried on her father's interest in the charity. She was no stranger to the learning disabled adults that Hft worked to support. Aline Grenfell, her half sister was born with Down's and Jane, the daughter of our great friends and neighbours in Henley Park, was also Down's. Our mother wanted to make sure that there was somewhere for adults with learning disabilities like Down's, to live independently for the duration of their lives. In the '70s' and '80s' she led fund raising efforts along with other supporters of Hft. The culmination of these efforts was the opening of Milton Heights near Oxford. Wonderfully, Jane was one of the first residents at Milton Heights, which as a source of great satisfaction to our mother. Caroline would be thrilled to know at her passing, that she was able to fund-raise one last time for the cause that she loved.
