Thank you for visiting my page . I am running the London marathon in April and am raising money for the wonderful British Heart Foundation.
My wonderful mother, Leslie, was born with a hole in her heart, and was given a life expectancy of 4 years old. Thankfully, due to life saving treatment she’ll be 68 this year, and the world is a better place for her compassionate , selfless nature.
My nephews best friend, was born with a heart condition, and again thanks to the incredible treatment & his utter bravery, he enjoys playing football, tearing around with my nephew and is an absolute joy to be around.
Finally, and tragically, I am doing this in memory of Gillian Jackson, my best friend Sara’s mum, who passed away in 2017. The world is a poorer place for her no longer being in it. I asked Sara to write a few words about the incredible Gillian.
“In 2017 my Mum and I went swimming with my then 3 year old son. After we went home, without any warning, her heart stopped. Despite immediate CPR and tremendous efforts by the incredible NHS Doctors and nurses, she died. The loss was heartbreaking, and still hurts the whole family to this day. My Mum was an amazing lady. A champion of children who were hurt, abused and unable to speak for themselves, she worked tirelessly to change lives for the better. She was a Sunday school teacher, talented guitarist and singer and knitted endlessly. More than this, she was the best mother and grandmother you could ever wish for, and it makes me so sad that she won't see my son grow up and never met my daughter. In some ways we were lucky though. Thankfully I was there and trained in first aid, so could administer CPR until help arrived. Although, ultimately it didn't save her life, it gave us time to get the whole family to her bedside to say goodbye and she was able to be an organ donor, her last incredible gift to the world. The real tragedy of Sudden adult death syndrome, is that most families do not get this opportunity. It tells suddenly, and without warning. It can take anybody, including top athletes, young or old, if your heart stops and nobody is there, you can't be saved and there isn't time for families to say goodbye. I'm so thank you to Caroline for helping me and my family to raise money for more research to find out why SADS happens, and hopefully one day, find a way to stop it. So no other family has to suffer this heartache. Thank Cazza, you are the best friend I could ask for, and thank you everybody who donates.”
If you can spare a few coins for this incredible charity, that does miraculous research I would really appreciate it.
Huge love xxx
